Scholarship Winners Receive Awards

DJ Nennig & Austin Obradovich received their NBWYFC Scholarship Awards this past Wednesday May 23rd at the New Berlin West Senior Awards Ceremony.

The entire gorup of young men that submitted applications were both deserving and inspirational!

Here is an excerpt from each of the winning essays..

Austin writes…
Youth football has taught me about leadership and what it takes to be a leader. Leadership isn’t earned by being the best on the field. It is earned by your actions; how you help others, how you act when nobody is watching, and earning the respect of your peers. Leadership is also about humility; about knowing that you are not perfect, and to recognize that you should try to be the best you can be for yourself and to others.

DJ writes…
My parents have always encouraged me to do my best. But it wasn’t only my parents by my side encouraging me to reach further or give a little bit more, it was my NBW Coaches (Youth and High School) & teammates too. They never let me slack off in school or on the field. It was clear that school was important and playing football was a privilege. They taught me to strive to be the best, to be respectful and to never give up. These characteristics are represented in large and small moments of my life.
